"I wonder what I look like in your eyes"

Writer's picture: Saheli DeySaheli Dey

I wonder what I look like in your eyes.

If the insecurities that scar my vision scar yours too,

Or do you, like a poet, admire me as they do the lunar's grace? Despite full or crescent, bright or dimmed, with its craters and flawed phases?

Are my eyes the gateway to my soul,

Or are they merely two chocolate-dipped pupils that brighten up in the sunlight's swoon?

I wonder if you think I'm a sacred shrine of your worship,

Or some transient and fleeting stop for you to stay until the next adventurous mission.

Am I the godsent result of your prayers,

Or am I just merely one of the faces in life's endless affairs.

Do you feel lost and undone without the sound of my voice,

Or am I just a faraway call that blends with the rest of your crowded mind's noise?

Does the song that consumes your soul paint the picture of my face on your psyche,

Am I the one that you'd want to spend the rest of your life with?

I wonder if you ponder the same, day and night...

For if you could see yourself from my adoring sight, you wouldn't even have to question my feelings for you twice.
